Infiltrations
In podiatry, infiltrations are a therapeutic treatment used to relieve pain, inflammation, and other symptoms associated with various conditions affecting the feet and lower limbs. This procedure involves the direct application of medication to painful or inflamed areas using a fine needle. Injections are highly effective in treating a wide range of podiatric issues, such as tendinitis, bursitis, nerve entrapments, arthritis, or heel pain, quickly relieving inflammation and reducing pain, which allows for better mobility and an improved quality of life for the patient.
The use of corticosteroids helps reduce inflammation and alleviate pain in both acute and chronic cases.
Injections can be especially useful for patients who do not experience complete pain relief with conservative treatments such as physical therapy, orthopedic insoles, painkillers, or oral anti-inflammatory medications.
Depending on the case, injections on their own may not provide a permanent solution, so all conservative measures such as rehabilitation, insoles, footwear, or physical therapy help achieve better long-term results.
